headaches migraines

Headaches/ Migraines

Headaches are a part of life. Sometimes, we know exactly what is causing us pain, and sometimes we don't. Triggers for headaches can come in many forms such as food, environmental stimuli, or behavior. Stress, noises, and bright lights can all contribute to your pain. But what about muscle tension? Could this be why we are getting so many headaches?

Unfortunately, many Americans participate in more sedentary activities than in the past. More and more hours are spent by people sitting in a fixed position or posture, increasing muscle tension and joint irritation.

When our back tightens up, it could be putting tension on our muscles that connect to our neck and head. Think of our backs as an entire system of muscles that are connected and linked up and down the spine and even into our legs. When part of the system tenses up, it puts pressure and stress on other areas of the system. This is why you go to a chiropractor and do core exercises when you are experiencing sciatic nerve pain in the legs.

Much like easing sciatica, our chiropractors find the root of the pain you are experiencing in your head, and then work to fix the entire system, restoring range of motion, releasing muscle tension, and exercising joint mobility.

Sciatica

You know you have a back injury, so why do your legs hurt? The answer is simple, yet so complex. In short, the sciatic nerve is being irritated, which can be causing you to feel all kinds of aches, pains, stabbing, throbbing, numbness, & tingling throughout the leg. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and runs all the way down both legs and into the feet, so spinal injuries, such as a herniated disc, can be the cause of pain within the legs.

Call Us Today For Sciatic Pain Relief
The degree of which the disc is herniated, the person's age, bone structure, and overall health, can play a part in the severity of the pain or the type of pain. For instance, some patients may shift their body and feel their leg go numb in a single moment. Other patients may have on and off pain that is annoying, yet doesn't prevent them from doing most of their usual day to day activities. Some patients may feel pain in their whole leg or only part of it.

When a disc herniates, the jelly-like substance in the disc protrudes out and puts pressure on the nerve. Not all people with herniated discs feel pain, but when the disc presses on the nerve, back pain and/or sciatic pain follow. The goal of treatment is to reduce compression of the disc and work it away from the nerve.
